The 2025 Annual Conference of the Japan Association for Human Security Studies (JAHSS) will be held at Kanazawa University from November 8 to November 9, 2025 (See previous announcement https://sgcs.w3.kanazawa-u.ac.jp/news/329). The event will be co-hosted with the Global Culture and Society Research Center, Institute of Human and Social Sciences, Kanazawa University

JAHSS is an international, interdisciplinary academic society that researches the concept of ‘Human Security,’ which views security from a human-centered perspective. International researchers, practitioners, civil society activists, and students gather for discussions at the annual conferences.

The theme for the 2025 conference is ‘Disasters and Human Security’. As symbolized by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and heavy rains in 2024, complex disasters—where various man-made and non-man-made issues combine with natural disasters—pose a serious threat to current human security. The conference will feature oral presentation sessions, poster sessions, and a keynote speech and symposium planned by Kanazawa University.
